NIO (NYSE: $NIO) has passed 300,000 vehicle deliveries for the first nine months of 2026. Yet its latest monthly growth rate is much lower than the year-to-date headline. Both numbers are correct—and comparing their time periods matters.

The numbers behind the headline

In its 1 October company update, NIO reported the following:

PeriodVehicles deliveredYear-over-year growth
September 202637,4087.7%
Third quarter 2026109,17825.4%
January–September 2026300,30149.2%

September’s total includes 21,318 NIO-brand vehicles, 8,763 ONVO vehicles and 7,327 FIREFLY vehicles. The 300,301 figure covers the company’s three brands, rather than the NIO brand alone.

Did NIO meet its own delivery guidance?

Yes. When it released second-quarter results on 1 September, NIO projected third-quarter deliveries of 108,000–111,000 vehicles. The reported 109,178 falls inside that range. Meeting delivery guidance does not, by itself, establish whether revenue or profit expectations were met.

What the contrast tells investors

Crezus Capital interpretation: September grew against September 2025; the nine-month figure compares two January–September periods. These are different comparison windows. The lower monthly growth rate deserves attention, but it does not mean deliveries fell year over year or prove that demand is contracting.

The practical question is whether future monthly results sustain growth and how the mix of brands translates into revenue and margins. Avoid turning one month’s percentage into a forecast for the share price.

The next financial check

NIO reported a vehicle margin of 18.5% for the second quarter of 2026, versus 10.3% a year earlier, in its unaudited results. That is a historical second-quarter measure—not a confirmed third-quarter margin.

When the next financial results arrive, compare delivered vehicles with revenue, vehicle margin and operating cash flow. Volume is one part of the business story; sustainable economics are another. This article makes no claim about an immediate stock-price reaction or future returns.
